Android’s robot mascot, often called Bugdroid, made an open mobile platform feel approachable. Its simple antennae, rounded head, and bright green body invited adaptation by device makers and developers.
Successive identities refined the lowercase lettering and color. In 2019 the robot head joined the wordmark, strengthening the connection between mascot and platform while improving legibility.
Google’s 2023 update capitalized Android and rendered the robot in three dimensions. Materials, colors, and accessories can change while the head silhouette remains recognizable.
Like Google and Microsoft, Android balances a disciplined master mark with a flexible system designed to support many devices and partners.
