The story behind the changes

How the identity evolved

A large checkmark signals confidence

Verizon launched in 2000 with a wordmark crossed by an oversized red check. The punctuation-like device suggested certainty and completion, while a stylized z introduced a flash of telecommunications energy.

The checkmark becomes quieter

In 2015 the company adopted a straightforward lowercase name with a small red check at the end. The update prioritized legibility across retail signs, bills, apps, and connected devices.

The V gains heat and motion

Verizon’s 2024 refresh removed the check and highlighted the initial V in red with a yellow glow. According to the company, the treatment draws on the energy of its heritage while presenting a more optimistic, dynamic brand.

Compare Verizon’s concentrated color cue with AT&T and T-Mobile, whose own identities depend on a single memorable symbol or color.
