Lenovo replaced the Legend name as the company expanded internationally. Its early identity used firm blue lettering and a distinctive treatment of the initial, giving the unfamiliar new name a stable corporate presence.
Computers, tablets, phones, data-center products, and sponsorships placed the logo in very different settings. A fixed technology-blue treatment became less useful as the company’s audiences and product categories widened.
The current lowercase identity uses straightforward geometry and can appear on its own or inside bright rectangular fields. This lets campaigns change color and energy while the letterforms remain consistent.
Lenovo’s flexible typography makes a useful comparison with Dell and IBM, the company whose personal-computer business Lenovo acquired in 2005.
