New Balance

Explore the New Balance NB monogram, its horizontal speed lines, and the difference between the corporate logo and the N on footwear.

The story behind the changes

How the identity evolved

Two initials become a moving symbol

The New Balance corporate logo joins an N and B into an inclined monogram. Horizontal cuts through the left side create a visual suggestion of speed without drawing a runner or a shoe. The full company name underneath explains the initials and gives the compact symbol a stable base.

The corporate NB and the shoe-side N

New Balance grew from an arch-support business into a footwear and apparel company. Its visual system has to work both as a company signature and as identification on a product. The NB corporate mark shown here should not be confused with the large single N used on many shoe uppers: they are related brand elements with different jobs.

A current identity reference

This entry shows the documented corporate lockup, including its red treatment. It does not assign an unverified introduction date to this exact drawing. The slanted monogram and upright lowercase name show how a logo can balance energy with legibility.

Compare this identity with Nike and Adidas.
