An A-shaped mark with an arcade connection
Atari’s Fuji symbol is more than a stylized initial. The company credits George Opperman with the design and Evelyn Seto with drawing it, and says it was intended to visually represent Pong. Its three vertical strokes make the mark recognizable even without the word Atari.
A durable gaming icon
Atari says the Fuji logo has inspired fans since its introduction in the 1970s. The company later used additional wordmark treatments, but the original symbol remains a shorthand for early video-game culture. Compare Atari’s abstract emblem with the characterful wordmarks of Nintendo and PlayStation.
